Saturday, March 14th was a great day for the Palmer’s and a small group of friends at A. Rufus Morgan Shelter outside of Wesser, NC. The rain and clouds couldn’t stop Mom & Dad Palmer from bringing a little sunshine and trail magic into the lives of Adam, Dori, Kat, Trapper and Big Boot. Marion and I drove out to western NC to hike about 1 mile up the trail to meet Adam and crew at a shelter and bring some much deserved home cookin’, to the likes of chili, pizza, cheeseburgers, fruit salad, veggies, brownies, sweet tea and home brew! It was a great surprise and a wonderful experience to see them all since they hit the trail on 3/1/09.
We arrived around 3:30pm and stayed until just before dark. Hearing all the stories, watching their smiling faces told us both that things are going very well for them all. Kat and Dori told us several stories about Adam, from getting the water every day, to building fires, and overall taking care of them during the journey so far, it made us thankful and proud of our son. They have also fallen in love with Mosey, who they say provides daily entertainment for them on the trail! Mosey seems to be doing well and will certainly enjoy a 10 day break. We had to bring him home with us since dogs aren’t allowed on the trail through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We’ll take Mosey back on Tues, 3/24 as they continue north along the TN/NC border heading to Hot Springs, NC. Enjoy a few of the pictures and especially the videos to family and friends.
